Gary Pruitt is Chairman & CEO of Univar.
Gary Pruitt received a bachelor’s degree in business accounting from Gonzaga University, Washington. Upon graduation, he became a senior accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Seattle. In 1978, he moved across town and joined Univar Corporation. Over the next 23 years, he steadily rose up through the ranks to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
In November 2001, Gary was the first American appointed to the Executive Board of Royal Vopak in The Netherlands – the parent company of Univar. A short time later, Gary was elevated to Chairman of the Executive Board.
On June 29, 2002, Univar split-off from Royal Vopak as an independent company focused on chemical distribution. Gary was appointed its Chief Executive Officer.
